started off as scattered parts that found a connection and bonded
tightened and formed properly ; everything well rounded
into a baby bike with training wheels on either side
giving us balance as we ride
thinking we`re big kids; but still attached to mom and dad
and then those trainers come off so were either excited or sad
when they leave our side & in the care of others when we say we`re ready for school
fallow the path of those on the big kid bikes like a blinded fool
some hit harsh realities ; fall , scrape our knees
marks left on our souls , cuts make our hearts bleed
others break bones and fall into concussions
crumbling the line between life and death like an eruption
but yet through all of that ; we learn to rise and look for the horizon
placing our feet back on the pedals and keep pushing ; hair blowing wild like a lion
some sulk away and put their bikes on the curb
previous failures make them deterred
they become stationary ; mannequins in department windows
dropping invisible tears as another on a bike goes
there are lucky ones that make the life changes to allow more room
attaching another seat and pedals ; a set for the bride and another for the groom
sticking out the spokes in the wheels ; holding up future children
parents trying to hide them from world`s view , don`t want them contaminated with the world`s poison
and finally when pieces break down and rust apart
moved slowly into the depths of the dark
hoping that we`d never be forgot .
